An internship at the intersection of design and engineering
During my internship at Wizeline, I was embedded in a primarily developer-focused team. My contribution focused on usability, user research, and user-centered design — competencies that seamlessly integrated into the UX/UI work of enhancing user experience across platforms.
I developed skills such as responsibility and self-management to contribute effectively to the project. I was recognized multiple times by my superiors for high quality work and attention to detail, even being congratulated by the project manager as an outstanding design intern.
This work was done during a student internship, which limits the amount of screens that can be shown. This case study focuses on the skills acquired during the internship. I do not speak for the brand or the company.
One design system, fragmented experiences
Wizeline developed Wizeline OS, a unified internal recruitment platform with its own design system. However, not all of Wizeline’s internal applications have consistent interfaces, leading to a disorganized and confusing user experience.
My role included redesigning other internal platforms to align with Wizeline OS’s look and feel, enhancing user experience through a complete UI/UX redesign. This also included adapting existing user flows to a web mobile version.
Responsive Design
I mastered Figma’s Auto Layout feature, implementing responsive design principles to seamlessly adapt a web UI for mobile. Utilizing flexible grids and fluid elements, I ensured optimal viewing across devices. This experience honed my skills in creating user-friendly interfaces adaptable to diverse screen sizes.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration
In this program I worked closely with both designers and programmers. Recognizing effective communication’s crucial role in task success, I contributed significantly to a predominantly developer-focused team by using adaptability and negotiation skills.
Learning to speak the language of engineering — understanding constraints, timelines, and implementation concerns — made me a more effective advocate for design decisions and a more valuable collaborator on cross-functional work.

Pixel Perfect Cohesion
By meticulously aligning every element and adhering to design specifications, I ensured a seamless user experience across platforms. Through visually appealing designs that reflected the brand identity, I enhanced user engagement and satisfaction and contributed to a unified and polished user interface.

What the internship built
- Designed and shipped the mobile version of Wizeline OS, adapting desktop features into a responsive mobile experience with reusable component patterns.
- Established design system consistency across Wizeline Engine platforms by documenting interaction patterns and UI standards, enabling faster handoffs between design and engineering.
- Recognized by the project manager as an outstanding design intern for high quality work and attention to detail.
- Developed foundational skills in cross-functional collaboration, working effectively within a developer-led team environment.
Working in a predominantly developer-focused team taught me that design influence isn’t about authority — it’s about communication. The more clearly you can articulate why a design decision matters in terms your collaborators understand, the more the work improves. Adaptability and negotiation are design skills too.
